Dr. Cathy Gallahorn

Dr.Gallahorn is the medical director and veterinarian at Animal Medical Care Center. She has worked in the veterinary profession for over twenty years, sixteen of those years at North Suffolk Animal Clinic on the southside. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at Virginia Tech, and then went on to graduate as a veterinarian from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003.

When asked many years ago about why she wanted to be a veterinarian, her answer was “to make people’s lives better through their pets”. This still rings true for her today. She loves being able to positively impact people’s lives by keeping their pets healthy. She lives across the James River in Smithfield with my husband of nineteen years, John, and our two beautiful daughters Riley (14) and Katie (12). They have two pets at home; a cat named Ralphie and a rescued Maltese-Shihtzu mix named Macie. Her passion outside of the work and home are actively serving with the student ministry at Point Harbor Community Church in Chesapeake.

Dr. Victoria Regetz

Dr. Regetz loves being a veterinarian because, “you’re not just treating the animal you’re helping the whole family”! Growing up on a farm with lots of animals, she wanted to be a vet since she was little, however she does remember watching Dr. Dolittle and the scene where he takes the tiger’s temperature, thought to herself, “you want me to put what, where?.... no thanks”! Once she got into her teens she started working at a vet hospital and realized, that this is what she wanted to do with her life, treat animals and help families!

Dr. Regetz believes Vet medicine is great because it’s such a diverse practice you can see and treat so many different maladies! She particularly enjoys, dermatology, nutrition and preventative medicine. She believes that animals do so much to enhance our lives, so we should do our best to enhance theirs!

Dr, Regetz joins AMCC from Athens, Georgia where she did her clinical studies at the University of Georgia. She’s a graduate of St. George’s University where she studied Vet Med and proper sunblock application. Prior to that she obtained her bachelors degree from James Madison University, GO DUKES! She’s a native of rural central Virginia and believes Virginia truly is for lovers!

When Dr. Regetz isn’t treating her patients, she seeks rejuvenation from the mountains and the water. She enjoys travelling to new places and learning about different cultures! Dr. Regetz loves to spend time with family and her fur babies, reading, and being active! Dr. Regetz appreciates good food and can often be found over-eating, just like her Labrador!

Dr. Regetz’s ultimate goal is to become a valued part of your family’s vet care team and she promises to treat your furbabies as if they were her own!
